Kyle Weiss, a ' 95 of Andover, NJ, has signed on to play with the New England Stars next season.

"I started playing hockey when I was 8, my dad took me skating for the first time. I started playing travel hockey and it took off from there."

Last season Weiss played for the Jersey Wildcats of the Met League - and this season he's looking forward to a new start in New England. Before juniors, Weiss played high school hockey in his hometown.

"I wanted to try something a little different," said Weiss of his decision to play junior hockey. "I wanted harder hockey, and it seemed like a good fit for trying to get to college."

The forward considers himself a hard worker in the corners who can produce on the score sheet but is actually more of a playmaker.

"I'm more of a finesse type of player, I'm pretty fast," he said. "I'd like to work on my hands a bit more, work on my shot a little more and get stronger."

Weiss knew the Stars would be a great fit for him after speaking with General Manager Dan Fontas.

"Dan gave me a call and it seemed like they're really about moving players to the next level," he said. "I want to play college hockey."

Moving from New Jersey to New England will be a big change, but Weiss is ready for the challenge.

"It'll be a whole different environment, but I like it up here," he said.
