The New England Stars opened up the Northern States Hockey League with a convincing win over the Junior Mariners of Salem, NH. 11-1. Wes Monson (3 g, 3 a) and Steve Upton (2 g, 2 a) led the offensive attack, but the Stars got contribution from all players as they out shot the Mariners 40 -9. Dane Pauls turned aside 8 of those 9 shots for his for regular season win in a Stars uniform. The Stars and Mariners will resume the home an home series Sunday at 6:20 pm at the Ice Center in Salem NH.
