The New England Stars captured two of four points this weekend with a 2-1 loss on Saturday and 7-2 win on Sunday against the Cape Cod Islanders.

On Saturday, the Islanders notched the first goal with Visiliy Mirnonov found the back of the net. Stars forward Steve Crocker would respond later in the period to tie the game at one. However, the Stars could not muster another goal. The Islanders found the back of the net, short-handed, when Tim O'Shea beat goaltender Dalton Doire.

Sunday was a different story as the Stars rallied to come back for a 7-2 win. Goals came from seven different scorers: Brian Glover, Steve Upton, Jake Latham, Justin Carchia, Andre Nybo, Colton Hutton, and Ian McNamara. Charles Antoine Malenfant and Mironov notched goals for the Islanders.

"We played well both games," said Head Coach Darryl Green. "We managed the puck very well on Saturday and Sunday. Our commitment to finishing our hits and going to the front of the net were the biggest improvements we made from Saturday's to Sunday's game."

Green said he hopes his team will bring the same jump in their step in next weekend's series against the Maine Wild.

"If we are focused, intense, and committed to ourgame plan, like we were this weekend for every game, we greatly increase our chances of winning," he said.

After the weekend's tilts, the Stars still sit in second place in the NA3EHL Eastern Conference standings, three points behind the New Hampshire Fighting Spirit.
