The Stars U14 Elites had one game this past weekend against the Eastern Mass Senators. We lost 10-0.

On Saturday morning the U9 premier team traveled to Dover New Hampshire to play the Granite State Wild.  The Stars got on the board first with a goal from Sean Meyers in the first period.  The team continued to play hard and got their 2nd goal from Jeffrey Zou.  Joe DeKarski and Gavin Petrucci both got assists in the game.  The Stars had some excellent blue line presence highlighted by play from Jack Hayes who held the blue line very well.  The team played well and saw some outstanding effort from Justin Okeefe, Aiden Husson and Joe DeKarski.  The Stars ended the game with a 2-2 tie.

The U-10 Squirt Elite Team had a winning weekend.  Saturday, they won against the Outlaws 5-3.  Leading the way with two goals was Nikolas Mastakouras and Jonathan Childs. One goal was shot by Jack Moyen. He also assisted in Nikolas’ goal.  The team worked hard in a closely battled game.  The U-10 Elites continued to play hard Sunday morning against the Junior Monarchs – White.  It was a tight game after two periods, tied 2-2.  Third period the Stars came out strong and scored 4 times. Leading the way was Jonathan Childs with a total of 4 goals and an assist.  Jake Lacasse and Erin Gamble also scored today.  Players who assisted with these great goals were Ryan Ducharme, Jake Lacasse, Erin Gamble and Nikolas Mastakouras.  End score was 6-2.

The U-16 Elite team lost its only game of the weekend 6-1 to the Barnstable Red Raiders.  Blake Lacombe and Douglas Herling both had strong games up front while Mike Mucci had a solid effort filling in as a forward.

The NE Stars 07 Premier team headed to Everett Arena in Concord NH this past weekend for the AAU Jamboree and left on Sunday with 4 wins, 0 losses.  First up was the Concord Capitals and the Stars took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Jonah Winsor and Wesley Huft. There was some good back and forth action before Winsor netted 2 more goals :48 seconds apart to seal the win 4-0.  Brady Lavery, Ryan Ricard. Camden Miller and Brennan Kelleher each notched an assist while James Brew shut the Capitals down in net.

Next up was the West River Royals who always bring their A game.  The Royals took the lead early in the game and held onto it until Lavery stole a pass at center ice and put the puck away on a breakaway.  With less than 5 to go the Stars sealed the victory on a top shelf wrist shot from Winsor.  This was a hard fought game with great two way play from the entire team.  The Stars and Royals have played 3 games so far this season with the Stars pulling out 2 W's from those meetings.  More to come from this rivalry as the season unfolds.

On Sunday the Stars returned to Concord to face off against the Dover Wild and Rochester Blackhawks. Huft kicked off the scoring (his first of 4 this game, 1 assist) a minute and a half in and the scoring kept coming.  Goals poured in from Gage Richard (2 and 2 assists) Kelleher (2, 1 assist), Winsor (2 assists), and Braydon Atwood.  James Mantone had 2 assists and Hunter Lammi and Lavery each added 1 apiece. The Stars took this game 10-1 and their hard work and team play was on full display.

The last game of the weekend finished with the Stars putting up 5 and Brew landed his second shutout of the weekend.  The Blackhawks had tremendous goaltending in this tilt, however the Stars were flying high and running on all cylinders.  Five different Stars contributed to the scoring. Winsor (1 assist) and Huft each added one giving them each 6 on the weekend.  Additional tallies came from Miller (1 assist), Atwood and Richard (1 assist).  Helpers came from Lavery, Lammi and Kelleher with one apiece in this one.

The player of the weekend was James Mantone who took home the Stick of the Week for his solid two way play.  Mantone battled hard on both ends of the ice and kept the team fired up with his leadership.

It was a great weekend for the Stars as they came together as a team and put in a full effort every time they touched the ice.  Notable mention off the scoresheet was the play of Ryan Desjardins, Austin Gartner and Ricard who rotated as a 3 man defensive group all weekend.  Lots of ice time for those 3 and with only 2 GA all weekend, their play combined with some timely saves by Brew kept the Stars on the offensive.  Missing from the weekend was the Stars 4th blueliner Ryan Gambale.

The NE Stars U13 premier team fell to the Boston Stars 7-3 on Sunday morning at Skate 3. The Stars played a good game for 85% of the stretch, but gave up three goals to the Boston Stars within 2 minutes, putting the game out of reach. The Stars will have a weekend off this weekend and get back at it in practice to correct mistakes that were made and bounce back the following weekend.
