New England Stars: Weekly Round Up

On Saturday the U9 Premier Squirt team hosted the New England Predators at Skate 3.  The Predators got on the score board early to put the Stars down 1-0. A little over half way through the period David Wood received a pass from Aiden Husson  and finished the play with a goal to tie the game at 1.  Wood scored his second goal just 90 seconds later to give the Stars the lead.  Joe Dekarski  found the back of the net late in the period and the Stars finished the first period with a 3-1 lead.  The team kept at it in the second period scoring 5 more goals coming from Jeffrey Zou and David Wood.  The Stars headed into the 3rd period with an 8-3 lead.  Ryan Baker and Gavin Petrucci both scored in the third period  and Sean Myers ended the game with two helpers.  This was a solid game by the entire team from start to finish.  Lilly Vaughan had a great game on defense making numerous plays to shut down the Predators offense.  Justin Okeefe also played a great game and was a difference maker on puck battles which helped the team controlled the game.  The team was anchored by their goaltender Tyler Santosuosso who played an exceptional game leading the team to a 10-4 victory.

 

The U13 Elites traveled to Walpole for a late night game on Saturday night. The game was a great battle, which ended in a 4-4 tie. With good goal tending from Evan Taylor and offense coming from Brandon MacKenzie and Chris Rooney with two goals each.

 

On Sunday the Stars invited The New England Edge for a non league game. Evenly matched talent made for a well played contest. Back and forth went the scoring but in the end the Stars topped the Edge 3-2. Scoring came from BrandonMacKenzie and Chris Rooney and a last minute breakaway goal by Jace LeClair assisted by Cam Hardy.
 
 On Saturday the U14 Elites lost 7-1 to the Monarchs and we lost Sunday 10-1 to the Boston Stars.
 
The 13U Premier team lost to the Boston Jr Penguins by a 3-1 score in a non league match up.  Both teams played a solid game with end to end action.  Evan Butler was strong in the net as he made a number of big saves to keep the Stars in the game.  The line of Caleb Amidon, Ben Young and Jake Figueroa were the Stars best offensive line creating many scoring chances.  The Stars will travel to Springfield this Saturday to face off against the Springfield Riffles the will have a rematch with the Penguins on Sunday at the Flynn Rink in Medford, Ma. 
 
The Stars U16 Elite team went 1-1 on the weekend, losing a close 2-1 contest against the Manchester Flames on Saturday before closing out the weekend with a 6-4 win over the South Boston Shamrocks. John Natale paced the offense with a hat trick while Tyler Guillemette sealed the win with two goals in the final 4 minutes of the game.
 
The 03 Premier Independent Team played at Tsongas Arena on Friday night and won 8-0 over The Shamrocks.  The team had 6 different goal scorers and a great time was had by all.
 
On Sunday they played the EHF Minutemen Flames and captured a gritty 2-1 win with goals by Willy Steadman and Cal Tryder.   The defense and goaltending was amazing all game.  Next up for the 03 team is a tournament in Waterville.
