This week we are featuring the U10 Squirt Elite Stars, coached by Eric Brickett.

Q: How is your team doing this season?

Coach Brickett: We're doing well. We are a new team and it sometime takes time for a team to gel however these kids help each other out and have a strong team spirit about them and all of that is contributing to the team really getting off to a great start . I am fortunate enough to have a dedicated and knowledgeable coaching staff. Coaches Pete, Jerry, and Rick are an invaluable part to the way these kids have progressed in such a short amount of time.

Q: Where is your team in the standings?
Coach Brickett: Right now we are typically running in the middle of our tier. The team is getting stronger and stronger by the week and I am confident we'll be in the top as the season progresses. This team works hard and it shows. We have had a few games that we lost but the score of the game really didn't tell the story. Brayden, our goalie has just been phenomenal.  We're are poised for success.

Q: What are the bright spots of your team? What do they do well together? What are their strengths?
Coach Brickett: Bright spots, They look out after each other. That's huge in my book. Everyone gets along real well. These players are constantly taking on challenges that are outside of their comfort zone and that is boosting the confidence level and also the overall skill level. Strengths, well I have to say we must have the loudest locker room on the Eastern seaboard! Ha, Kidding aside these kids know when it's time to joke around and when it's time to bring your "A" game. When they bring their "A" game.......look out!

Q: What are some things you are hoping comes together for them more as the season progresses?

Coach Brickett: As the season progresses we will work better on the ice together. As I mentioned we are a new team and it can take time for the players to understand each others on ice habits and thought process.  Other than their individual skill levels I would have to say that game sense is the one thing we need to improve on. We did skate together quite a bit over the course of the summer but there is always room for improvement. There is no such thing as the perfect hockey team.

Q: Any other thoughts?
Coach Brickett: I am very proud of this team. They are all good hard working kids. The parents are very supportive and helpful as well. I it's not often your given such a great group of kids and coaching staff like this team. Couple all that with an organization that gives you the tools and support needed and this team just continues to get better. I am having a blast this season.
