Q&A with Nick Carchia, Coach of the U11 Premier team.

Q: Where is your team in the standings?

A.  We have a very competitive division with a group of four teams at the top all within a few points of each other. We currently sit in 2nd place.

Q. What are the bright spots of your team? What do they do well together?

A. We have a deep and consistent lineup. Each game, it seems a different players(s) step up and make a difference. We have a great goalie and a well-rounded group of defenseman who complement each other well with different skill sets. On offense, we do not rely on one or two players to do all the scoring and I have no idea who the leading goal scorers are on the team, which as a coach, is exactly what we want.

Q. What are some things you are hoping comes together for them more as the season progresses?

A. Consistency is something we always strive for and something that can always be improved. It is something that’s expected to continuously improve as the season goes and the team continues to embrace our systems to a higher degree.

Q. What has been your favorite memory or hockey moment so far from this team?

A. Certain team meetings spark our team and certain wins have more meaning than others. We’ll keep those to ourselves at this time.

Q. What is your favorite part of coaching this team?

A. For a PW hockey team, I think the coaching staff is pretty demanding of them. As a coach, it is nice to know the team and each individual enjoys and is capable of thriving on being challenged. The team also has proven they support one another. When things are not going well, there is no finger pointing, just an urge amongst each other to make the necessary changes. They win together an lose together, which always leads to more of the former.
